Frances Bean Cobain Marries Tony Hawk’s Son!

Frances Bean Cobain, the offspring of the late Kurt Cobain, frontman of Nirvana, who tragically took his own life in 1994, tied the knot with Riley Hawk, the son of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, in a discreet ceremony held in Los Angeles at the start of October.
Union of Kurt Cobain’s Daughter and Tony Hawk’s Son
According to records unearthed by TMZ, the couple, who secured their marriage license in San Diego County in September, exchanged vows in Los Angeles on October 7th.
But the surprises didn’t end there: presiding over their nuptials was Frances’ godfather, former R.E.M. lead singer Michael Stipe.
Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk had been an item since 2021, but their relationship remained under wraps until August 2022, coinciding with her 30th birthday, when she shared a selfie with her boyfriend.
Frances, an accomplished visual artist and model, took a one-year hiatus from social media. Upon her return to Instagram, she opened up about her life, sharing heartwarming snapshots of her time with Riley: “I took a year-long break from posting on Instagram, and it has been exceptionally beneficial for my mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being”.
“2021 brought me more into the present moment than I’ve ever been, for which I am deeply grateful. I wanted to share some moments from my life collected during this year that have brought me great joy”, added Frances Bean. On her 30th birthday, August 18, 2022, she posted another picture with Riley on social media.
Second matrimonial union
Frances Bean Cobain’s marriage to Riley Hawk marks her second marriage. In March 2016, just two years after her initial “I do”, Kurt Cobain’s daughter divorced her first husband, musician Isaiah Silva. The exact reasons for their separation remain undisclosed, as it was characterized at the time merely as “irreconcilable differences”, a common phrase in American divorces. What is certain is that the former spouses had a legal dispute over the custody of Kurt Cobain’s guitar, the same instrument he played before his tragic passing. Eventually, the judge ruled that the guitar should remain with Isaiah Silva.
Kurt Cobain’s Legacy
Born on August 18, 1992, Frances Bean Cobain is the product of the relationship between Nirvana’s frontman and Courtney Love. As the sole inheritor of her father’s artistic and financial legacy, Frances Bean Cobain’s inheritance is estimated at approximately $450 million. The last time Frances saw Kurt Cobain was in April 1994, just a week before his suicide, when she was only a year and a half old. “When I was 15, I realized that there was no escaping Nirvana. I turned on the radio at any time, and there was my father”, she said in 2015, reflecting on her father’s enduring presence. She also expressed her feelings about her father’s love: “It would have been nice to have a father. He left in the most horrible way, but I know he loved me”.
